In Windows, you can't change the name of 'Recycle Bin' like you do for other folders. But Windows 8 and Windows 7 make it really easy to change the name of Recycle Bin. You just have to make a little change in Registry Editor and then all you will need to do is to Right Click on the Recycle Bin icon and Select Rename. Read the below tutorial to know how to rename Recycle Bin.
Tutorial:
- Open Run dialog box. (Press Win Logo Key + R.)
- In Run Dialog box, type 'regedit' and hit Enter to open Registry Editor.
- Now navigate to the following Key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID
- Scroll down to {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} folder and Check the Right Pane.
- You will see a key name 'Default' and Type 'REF_SZ'. Double Click on this Key to open a Dialog Box.
- Now change the Value Data to the name you want to give to Recycle Bin and Click OK.
Like i have named it as 'Trash Box'.
- Now navigate to Desktop and Refresh your PC to see new name.
-To change the name again Just Right Click on Recycle Bin Icon and Select Rename.
- To Undo the Changes you have made just navigate back to the Value Data box and Clear the Box. Now the settings for Recycle Bin will revert back to default.
